Wei Yi has played every Global Chess League season with the Triveni Continental Kings on a men's Superstar board. He won the title in 2023 and 2024 and lost the 2025 final, and he is the only player who has appeared in all three Kings finals. He stays with the Kings for 2026.

Global Chess League record

In 2023 the Kings beat the upGrad Mumba Masters in the first league final in Dubai, decided on a sudden-death game after both matches and the blitz tiebreaks were split. Wei Yi beat Vidit Gujrathi in the first match and was singled out as the Kings' most valuable player of the season.

In 2024 the Kings won the final in London against the PBG Alaskan Knights, 9-7 and 13-7. In 2025 the Kings won the league stage in Mumbai but lost the final to the Alpine SG Pipers; Wei Yi lost both his games to Anish Giri with the white pieces.
