Aronian joined the Triveni Continental Kings shortly before the first season in 2023, when Ding Liren withdrew, and lifted the trophy as their Icon. After two seasons away he returns in 2026 on a men's Superstar board of the Ganges Grandmasters.

In the 2026 season Aronian plays for the Ganges Grandmasters on one of the two Superstar men's boards. The season runs from 5 to 13 September 2026 in Bengaluru, India.

Global Chess League record

In 2023 Aronian replaced Ding Liren as the Icon of the Triveni Continental Kings a few days before the season in Dubai. The Kings beat the upGrad Mumba Masters in the final, which was decided by a sudden-death game after both matches and the blitz tiebreaks were split, and Aronian lifted the first league trophy. He did not play in 2024 or 2025.
